1.9% decrease in turnover in market services for population

The activities of travel agencies, hairdressing and beauty, gambling and the activities of hotels and restaurants have influenced the 1.9% decrease in turnover in market services provided to the population, as a gross series, in the first seven months of this year, compared to the same period in 2023, according to data the National Institute of Statistics (INS), published on Thursday.

On a working-day and seasonally adjusted basis, market services supplied to the population decreased by 1.6% in the first seven months of 2024 compared to the same period in 2023.

On a comparative level, July 2024 – July 2023, the activity of market services supplied to the population, on a gross basis, recorded a turnover 4.1% lower, and on an adjusted basis, 3.7% lower.

Also, on a month-on-month basis (July vs. June), the volume of business in market services rendered to the population, on a gross basis, increased 9.3%.

On the other hand, as an adjusted series, the turnover of market services rendered to the population decreased 1.8%.
