The Bucharest – Ilfov Ambulance Service responded in the last 24 hours to 1,555 calls, 1,016 of which were Code Red and Code Yellow emergencies, the institution’s manager Alis Grasu declared on Tuesday for AGERPRES.

According to her, 209 people were in a public place when they needed urgent medical attention.

„In the last 24 hours, the Bucharest Ilfov Ambulance Service responded to 1,555 calls of which 1,016 were Code Red and Code Yellow emergencies. 209 people were in a public place when they needed an ambulance, 41 people experienced faintness, i.e. a feeling of loss of consciousness, and 22 were heat syncope cases. We must not forget that vote counting was still underway yesterday and many of the public-place calls were to polling stations. Compared to the previous day, there was a 16.57 percent increase in the total number of requests for ambulance services,” said Alis Grasu.

She also mentioned that the number of cases increased by 10 percent from the month before, and the number of emergencies by 19 percent. „The steepest increase was in public place calls. Let me emphasize that yesterday was a special day as regards public place emergencies,” doctor Grasu explained.
