The Save Romania Union (USR)’s Political Committee, convened on Thursday, voted in favor of supporting Nicusor Dan’s candidacy in the presidential election in May.

225 votes were cast out of a total of 248. Of these, 168 were in favor of supporting Nicusor Dan (75%), 50 members voted against (22%), and seven abstained (3%), the cited sources indicated.

The USR’s National Bureau decided on Wednesday to convene the Political Committee to vote on supporting Nicusor Dan’s candidacy in the presidential election in May.

USR president Elena Lasconi ruled out withdrawing her candidacy from the race for the presidential election. At the same time, she said that she would remain at the head of the party and would not resign.

The USR leader also announced that she would sue those who are trying to commit „a great abuse just to ensure a warm future for themselves.”
