A total of 67,116 companies were deregistered at the national level in the first 10 months of 2024, which is 25.47% more than the same period in 2023, according to data from the National Trade Register Office (ONRC).
The highest number of deregistrations was recorded in Bucharest, with 10,405 cases (a 14.68% increase compared to January-October 2023), followed by the counties of Cluj (3,342, +28.14%), Timis (2,747, +17.24%), Constanta (2,563, +8.97%), Dambovita (2,415, +69%), Iasi (2,426, +23.02%), Bihor (2,237, +43.21%), and Ilfov (2,230, +43.21%).
On the other hand, the counties with the fewest deregistrations were Calarasi (450, +7.40% compared to the first 10 months of last year), Ialomita (463, +41.59%), Giurgiu (491, +18.03%), Teleorman (531, +10.17%), and Covasna (538, +42.71%).
The most significant increases in the number of deregistrations were recorded in Dambovita (+69%), Harghita (+68.29%), Maramures (+65.70%), and Dolj (+63.34%). No county saw a decrease in the number of deregistrations by the end of October.
In terms of business sectors, the highest number of deregistrations occurred in wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, with 15,465 deregistrations (+14.90% compared to the same period in 2023), followed by agriculture, forestry, and fishing (7,297, +83.76%), transportation and storage (6,125, +29.55%), and professional, scientific, and technical activities (5,780, +23.11%).
In October 2024, there were 8,061 company deregistrations, the highest numbers being recorded in Bucharest (1,316) and the counties of Cluj (407), Timis (357), Iasi (337), Dolj (229), and Constanta (281).
