A Ukrainian film won the Grand Trophy at the Alpin Film Festival Brasov, an event that brought together more than 40 films from around the world, organisers announced on Sunday, write Agerpres.

„On Saturday, September 9, at the Awards Gala of the 8th Alpin Film Festival, the Ukrainian film ‘Plai- A Mountain Path’ (director: Eva Dzhyshyash) won the Alpin Film Festival Grand Trophy offered by RAP Group. The film, a moving poem, charged with humanity, offers a perspective, through the eyes of two children, on the reality of war and its impact on a peasant family living in a mountain village in Ukraine,” the organisers point out.

This year’s Alpin Film Festival brought together a selection of over 40 films from around the world. In the Romanian competition, the Audience Award went to „Refugiul – Castelul Craitei” directed by Liviu Marghidan, while the Best Mountain Film Award went to „Voyage to Himalaya – Kangchenjunga Expedition 2022,” directed by Octavian Repede, and the Carpati Trophy for the best film promoting the mountain areas in Romania went to „Ultima Transhumanta/Last Transhumance,” directed by Dragos Lumpan.

In the international competition, the award for Best Mountaineering Film went to „Ephemeral,” directed by Alastair Lee, the Special Jury Prize went to „Carne et ossa” (Italy), directed by Roberto Zazzara, and the Grand Alpin Film Festival Trophy went to „Plai- A Mountain Path” (Ukraine), directed by Eva Dzhyshyash. The festival’s closing gala also marked the 20th anniversary of the first all-Romanian expedition to Everest (8848 m), says the source.
