The Financial Supervisory Authority (ASF) is organizing, between October 16-23, 2023, under the auspices of „World Investor Week – WIW,” a series of actions and events dedicated to financial education, according to a press release from the institution, write Agerpres.
These aim to raise awareness of the importance of acquiring specific notions of non-banking financial markets by students, young people, and the general public.
WIW week, now in its seventh edition, started on Monday, at the Bucharest Stock Exchange, in the presence of over 80 high school students who participated in the opening of the trading session and in a financial education workshop, with the aim of raising awareness of the aspects related to the stock market among young people.
Another event, which will take place on Thursday, October 19, 2023, within WIW, is the debate „Who’s running the game? Stock market vs. crypto,” which will be attended by Cristian Logofatu, CFO of Bittnet Systems, and George Rotariu, CEO of Bitcoin Romania, the discussion being moderated by Paul Maior, president of the Invest Club. The event, organized in partnership with the Polytechnic University of Bucharest, will take place in Hall 1 of the Polytechnic between 15:00 and 17:00 and is addressed to students, pupils and other interested persons.
Within WIW, ASF has programmed a series of financial education actions addressed to pupils, students, and adults. Also, during WIW week, Depozitarul Central will offer the public the IBAN code registration service free of charge.
The Financial Supervisory Authority will start, on the occasion of World Investor Week, an information campaign, for a period of three months, regarding financial frauds in the online environment.
World Investor Week is an initiative initiated by the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO). The Financial Supervisory Authority is a member of IOSCO and in this capacity supports the efforts of the organization, which launched the World Investor Week concept in 2017, recognizing the need for financial education in the context of a changing financial market and behavior based more and more on taking big risks.
