French Ambassador to Romania Nicolas Warnery sent a congratulatory message on Friday on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Romania’s accession to NATO, stressing that the country is an ally with an essential contribution to the security and stability of the Alliance.
„Congratulations to Romania, which today celebrates 20 years of joining the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. France has been significantly involved in helping Romania achieve this goal. Today, Romania is an ally that makes an essential contribution to the security and stability of the Alliance. French-Romanian relations have never been so strong within NATO, as demonstrated by the excellent cooperation of our two armies in the context of strengthening the Eastern flank. Many happy returns!” the French diplomat said, according to a press release sent to AGERPRES.
Romania celebrates on Friday the 20th anniversary of joining the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.
On 29 March 2004, Romania officially joined NATO by depositing the instruments of ratification with the US State Department, the depositary state of the North Atlantic Alliance Treaty.
The deposit of the instruments of ratification was followed, on 2 April 2004, by the ceremony of the official hoisting of the country’s flag at the NATO headquarters.
