The prices of industrial production in total (domestic market and foreign market) decreased by 6.3% in February 2024, compared to February 2023, and by 0.8% compared to the previous month, according to the data published on Tuesday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
According to the cited source, at the level of the domestic market, the price index of industrial production registered a decrease of 1.23% in February, compared to January 2024, respectively 8.99% compared to February of the previous year.
Regarding the foreign market, in February compared to January, the prices of industrial production were higher by 0.45%, and compared to the same month of the previous year, there was an increase of 1.46%.
By large industrial groups, in February 2024, compared to February 2023, the most important increases in industrial production prices were recorded in: capital goods industry (+6.88%), consumer goods industry (5.44%) and the durable goods industry (+1.46%). A decrease of 4.46% was recorded in the intermediate goods industry, and 18.44% in the energy industry.
Compared to the reference period, INS data reveal that, by activity sector, prices increased in water distribution, sanitation, waste management, decontamination activities (+17.66%) and in the manufacturing industry (1.40%). On the contrary, there were decreases in the extractive industry (-8.2%) and in the production and supply of electricity and thermal energy, gas, hot water and air conditioning (21.8%).
