Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu declared on Tuesday that the Social Democratic Party (PSD) and the National Liberal Party (PNL) will make a decision regarding a possible political alliance for the parliamentary elections after June 10.
He was asked if a PSD-PNL alliance after the June elections would also include a joint presidential candidate considering that there are liberal leaders who say that Nicolae Ciuca will be forced to run and will surely win.
„That’s exactly why, let’s get to June 10. Something that I and the PNL chairman also said, that we will form a coalition after June 10, let’s see the vote of the Romanians on June 9 and we will make a decision if we make a political alliance this time,” Ciolacu said, after the meeting of the party’s National Political Council.
The leader of the social democrats explained that, in the counties with a predominantly Hungarian population, PSD and PNL have already nominated candidates for the local elections, but the two parties have not decided on joint candidacies.
