Romania is institutionally present in all the states that make up the Commonwealth of Australia, through the opening of the honorary consulate in Queensland, announced the Embassy of Romania.
The opening ceremony of the honorary consulate of Romania in Surfers Paradise, Gold Coast, took place on Thursday as part of the conurbation of the city of Brisbane, the capital of the state of Queensland. On this occasion, the Romanian ambassador to Australia, Radu Gabriel Safta, declared that the process by which Romania is represented in all six states that make up the Commonwealth of Australia, through career consulates (New South Wales, Victoria) or honorary consulates (Western Australia, South Australia, Tasmania and Queensland) was completed.
The opening event was attended by representatives from the Queensland state parliament, local officials, representatives of the business environment and the Romanian community.
The new honorary consulate, led by the businessman Ciprian Popescu, will represent an important support point for Romanian business environments that will want to capitalize on the opportunities at the local level, especially in the context where Brisbane, the city with the most dynamic development in Australia, will host the 2032 Summer Olympics.
At the same time, the new honorary consulate of Romania in the state of Queensland will contribute to the promotion of our cultural values, including by supporting Romanian diaspora actions.
