Two shipments of waste brought from England and the Netherlands were blocked from entering the country through the western Nadlac II Border Crossing Point, after the Romanian authorities found that the drivers did not have legal documents for such imports.
The two trucks were driven by a Dutch citizen and a Romanian. They were transporting, according to the documents accompanying the goods, furniture, textiles, plastic materials, rubber, ferrous and non-ferrous materials, which were to be unloaded at companies in our country.
„As there were suspicions regarding the legality of the transports in question, the border police requested authorized support from the representatives of the Arad County Commissariat within the Arad National Environmental and Consumer Protection Guard. Following the checks carried out, it was found that the trucks were actually loaded with 19,900 kg of waste, for which the drivers did not present the documentation required by law for the import of these products,” the Arad Border Police informed on Thursday.
The authorities ordered that the waste be returned to the senders in England and the Netherlands.
