More than 250,000 people waited for hours, standing in queues for several kilometers, to recline in front of the coffin of Queen Elizabeth II in the days preceding the funeral of the sovereign, the British Government announced on Tuesday, according to Reuters, Agerpres read.

„More than 250,000 people passed in front of the coffin deposited in the Parliament, it is an approximate figure for the moment,” said the British Minister of Culture, Michelle Donelan, for the Sky News television station.

„I have seen thousands of people coming to London to attend the funeral, and I think no one can insinuate that the monarch did not deserve this farewell ceremony, considering her sense of duty and the unselfish public service in which she engaged for over 70 years,” she added.
