New orders in manufacturing industry up by 1.4% after the first three months of 2024

New orders in the manufacturing industry increased, in nominal terms, as a whole, by 1.4% in the first quarter of this year, compared to the same period last year, due to the advance recorded in the capital goods industry (+7.5% ).

Decreases were registered in the industry of intermediate goods (-6.7%), the industry of current-use goods (-5.2%) and the industry of durable goods (-2.9%).

In March 2024, compared to February, new orders in the manufacturing industry increased, in nominal terms, by 4.3%, due to increases in the durable goods industry (+12.7%), the capital goods industry (+5 .6%) and in the intermediate goods industry (+2.5%). The consumer goods industry decreased by 2.9%.

Compared to March 2023, new orders in the manufacturing industry decreased, in nominal terms, by 5.2%, as a result of the decreases recorded in the intermediate goods industry (-16.9%) and in the consumer goods industry (-10, 5%). Increases were recorded in the industry of durable goods (+4.0%) and the industry of capital goods (+2.3%).
