ICR at Bookfest 2024: Novelties, book launches, debates and meeting famous authors

Published on

Novelties, book launches featuring the most recent volumes published by the ICR Publishing House, debates between cultural figures and creators from multiple areas are among the proposals of the Romanian Cultural Institute (ICS) for the visitors of the 17th edition of the Bookfest International Book Fair.

„ICR’s growing promotion and representation efforts show that the position adopted by the institution is correct and beneficial. A proof of this is the recent awarding of two very important prizes to Romanian authors whose translations were supported by the Romanian Cultural Institute,” said Liviu Jicman, president of the Romanian Cultural Institute, according to a press release sent to AGERPRES on Monday.

Among the protagonists of the events proposed by the National Book Centre, present at the ICR stand, created according to a graphic design signed by Emil Ivanescu, author of the Romanian Pavilion at the 2023 Venice Biennale of Architecture, are people of culture from Romania and the Republic of Moldova.

„Visitors have the opportunity to meet and enter into dialogue with well-known writers, including Gabriela Adamesteanu, Emilian Galaicu-Paun, Lavinia Braniste, Luminita Corneanu, Cosmin Perta, Liliana Corobca, Elena Vladareanu and Iulian Ciocan. Also, literary critics such as Ion Bogdan Lefter or leading figures of the theatrical world, including Emil Boroghina and Prof. Ludmila Patlanjoglu, Ph. D., will participate in the events. They are joined by personalities from cultural journalism such as Alina Purcaru and Nona Rapotan,” says the ICR.

The programme of the Institute’s presence at this edition also includes the launch of the new double issue of the well-known magazine Lettre Internationale, published by the ICR Publishing House.

During the five days of Bookfest, visitors will find at the ICR stand three new publications: „Post-Communism Panorama in the Republic of Moldova,” coordinated by Liliana Corobca and printed in two volumes, the English edition of the album „Monasteries and Churches in Transylvania between the 13th and 18th centuries,” a comprehensive work, edited by Father Iustin Marchis, and „Purcarete and Boroghina. Pilgrims in the Great Theatre of the World,” a monograph signed by the theatre critic Ludmila Patlanjoglu and published in two versions, Romanian and English.
