Romania’s registered unemployment rate dips to 3.10 pct as of end-April

Romania’s registered unemployment rate as of end-April 2024 was 3.10 percent, down 0.04 percentage points from the month before, the National Employment Agency (ANOFM) said in a release.

The jobless total as of the end of April was 249,534, of whom 51,943 were collecting unemployment benefit and 197,591 were not. The number of jobless on benefit was by 2,921 lower, and that of unemployed receiving no benefit was by 133 up compared to the previous month.

By residence, 67,421 unemployed in the ANOFM records were living in urban areas and 182,113 were rural residents.

The number of jobless women as of April 30, 2024 was 117,111, while the number of unemployed men was 132,423.

Most unemployed were in the 40 – 49 age bracket (65,256), followed by those aged over 55 (55,227). Unemployment was the lowest in the 25 – 29 age category (14,655).

By level of education, the unemployed without formal education and those with primary education account for a significant share in the total number of unemployed in the ANOFM records (31.34 percent). Unemployed middle school graduates account for 34.79 percent of this total, and higher education graduates – for 4.57 percent.
