The delisting of a Romanian product with a lower price than the one purchased later by an import retailer could be sanctioned with 5% of the turnover, according to a draft normative act that is being worked on in the Ministry of Agriculture, the relevant minister, Florin Barbu announced on Wednesday at the discussions in the Economic Committee of the Senate.
He mentioned that the draft normative act will be discussed with processors and retailers on June 11 and 12.
„In that ordinance or draft law that will be debated in the Romanian Parliament, listing will certainly be done for all agri-food products and if they meet the sanitary-veterinary and quality conditions and it is identified that a product will be listed at a price lower than the one purchased, the fine will be 5% of the turnover. This is a point of the normative act that I am working on. We will have it at the Ministry in a week and a half at most Agriculture a debate both with the processors and with the retailers and, of course, also in the Romanian Parliament on this ordinance, because we really want it and I really want it. The state could never intervene in the market as I am accused by some publications that I was Chavez, that I was Ceausescu, or all these things, that I intervene in the free market,” emphasised Florin Barbu.
According to the minister of agriculture, the debates with processors will take place on June 11, and those with retailers on June 12.
Barbu also added that the law capping the commercial addition is making its effects felt, and the data from the Competition Council show discounts between 8 and 32% on the shelf. The study carried out by the Competition Council is sent monthly to the Ministry of Agriculture.
The representatives of the Economic Committee of the Senate discussed on Wednesday with all the decision-making factors about the abuses that are made against the famous Romanian brands: the Topoloveni jam, the Ibanesti cheese and many others, which are removed from the shelf.
