NATO Deputy Secretary General Mircea Geoana said on Sunday in Botosani that he is „getting closer to making a decision” on his comeback to Romanian politics and maybe a candidacy for the Romanian Presidency.
In Botosani to release the book „The battle for Romania’s future. The thoughts of a Romanian at the top of NATO,” Geoana was asked by the audience if he will run for president, and his answer was that he is getting closer and closer to making such a decision.
„I am getting closer and closer to a decision and I’m not hiding from you the fact that, by going to the country and talking to the Romanian diaspora so large and important, in a way I load myself with people’s expectations, hopes and worries, but also I know well that I also have professional obligations at NATO and as long as I am at NATO I cannot make any announcement or take a decisive step. Because it would not be fair to the organisation I represent. My answer, which I hope will be an answer that will give you a bit of confidence, is that I am getting closer to the moment when I make a decision on my comeback to Romanian politics,” said Geoana.
