The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) confirmed on Sunday evening, following information provided by the Italian authorities, the Romanian citizenship of the two people who died in the waters of the Natisone River, Friuli Venezia Giulia region.
„Further to the information previously transmitted on the disappearance of three persons in the waters of the Natisone River, Friuli Venezia Giulia region of the Italian Republic, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs says that, on Sunday, the representatives of the Consulate General of Romania in Trieste were informed by the Italian authorities that the bodies of two of the three persons previously declared missing have been found and that the search for the third person is underway. Also, following the information transmitted by the Italian authorities, the MAE confirms the Romanian citizenship of the two deceased persons. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs conveys its condolences to the bereaved families,” reads a press release sent to AGERPRES.
According to the source, the representatives of the consular office are in permanent dialogue with the local authorities in order to obtain information on the search operations for the third missing person, as well as with the families of the deceased Romanian citizens, being ready to provide consular assistance according to requests and competences.
