Romania will be represented by 11 athletes, seven swimmers, led by David Popovici, double European champion in 100 and 200 m freestyle, and four jumpers, at the European Aquatics Championships in Belgrade (June 10-23), the last big competition before of the 2024 Olympics.

David Popovici (100 m free, 200 m free, 4×100 m relay), Patrick Sebastian Dinu (50 m free, 100 m free, 4×100 m relay), will compete in the swimming events, scheduled between June 17 and 23. Mihai Gergely (50 m butterfly, 100 m butterfly, 200 m free, 4×100 m free relay), George Ratiu (50 m butterfly, 50 m free, 100 m free, 4×100 m free relay), Richard Alexandru Szilagyi (50 m butterfly, 50m freestyle, 100m freestyle, 4x100m freestyle relay), Denis Laurean Popescu (50m butterfly, 100m butterfly, 50m backstroke, 100m backstroke) and Aissia Prisecariu (200m backstroke).

David Popovici, who will defend his European titles won in Rome in 2022, will compete on June 18, in the 100 m freestyle, when the heats and semifinals take place. The final is scheduled for June 19. The heats and semifinals in the 200 m freestyle are scheduled for June 20, and the final for June 21.

At jumps, with tests scheduled between June 17 and 23, we will have as representatives Ioana Carcu (platform, synchronized platform), Amelie Forster (trampoline 1 m, 3 m, mixed synchro on the 3 m trampoline, synchronized platform), Angelica Muscalu (platform, synchronized platform) and Alexandru Avasiloae (trampoline) 1 m, 3 m, synchronous mixed 3 m).

The European Championships in Belgrade represent a last chance for athletes to obtain the standards for the 2024 Olympics, the qualification period for swimming being June 23, the last day of the continental competition in Serbia.

At the 2022 European Championships in Rome, Romania won two gold medals, both through David Popovici in the 100 m and 200 m freestyle.
