The incumbent president of Suceava County Council, Gheorghe Flutur, admits defeat in Sunday’s elections, in which he sought a new mandate. „The voters are always right! In view of the results that are looming for the presidency of Suceava County Council, I would like to congratulate the winner and thank the people of Suceava who voted for me and my team,” he said.

„The voters are always right! In view of the results that are in sight for the presidency of Suceava County Council, I would like to congratulate the winner and thank the people of Suceava who voted for me and my team. I wish success to the new team and hope for the further development of Suceava County”, said Gheorghe Flutur, in a press release posted on the PNL Suceava Facebook page.

PSD candidate for Suceava Council Gheorghe Șoldan said on Monday that he won the election after defeating liberal Gheorghe Flutur.

Șoldan said at the Suceava PSD headquarters that the vote count was not over, but that mathematically he was the new head of Suceava CJ, with almost 7,000 votes ahead of Flutur.
„We have a lead of 7,000 votes. Mathematically, we are winners,” said Șoldan, to the applause of his party colleagues present in the Suceava PSD headquarters.
After partial counting of votes in 527 polling stations out of 561, Gheorghe Flutur got 107,578 votes and Gheorghe Șoldan 114,286 votes.
