Dominic Fritz says to run for USR leadership in next congress

Published on

The mayor of Timisoara, Dominic Fritz, said on Monday that he is assuming a candidacy for the Save Romania Union (USR) chairmanship at the party’s next congress.

„I will assume a candidacy for the USR chairmanship at the next congress. I will propose a new national bureau, a new collective leadership of this party, with me as chairman, and if I receive support for this difficult but beautiful mission, I will accept it,” Fritz told a press conference.

His reaction comes after party leader Catalin Drula announced that he would call elections for the party’s leadership following the „below expectations” election results.
