Tens of thousands of pairs of counterfeit sports shoes worth 5 million euros were found in four containers that are the subject of a criminal case against a Ukrainian citizen, who is in custody, the Black Sea Coast Guard said Wednesday.

According to the source, Coast Guard border guards together with inspectors from the Constanta and Constanta South Customs Border Offices discovered 32,932 pairs of sports shoes in four containers in the port of Constanta, worth 5,000,000 euros, goods that could infringe the intellectual property rights of well-known brands. The four containers are the subject of a criminal case involving a Ukrainian national who is being held in custody.

The criminal case against the Ukrainian is being investigated by the National Anticorruption Directorate.

The goods were seized by the customs authority and left in the custody of the customs declarants on the basis of a report, and legal measures will be proposed once the investigations are completed.
