Nicusor Dan: We have started process of modernizing public lighting system in Bucharest

Published on

Mayor Nicusor Dan announces that the process of modernizing the public lighting system in the Capital has begun.

„We have already installed approximately 1,900 new lighting fixtures, from the 4,900 LEDs purchased with the 25 million lei in non-refundable funds obtained from the Environment Fund Administration. The modernization works on Bd. Theodor Pallady and Bd. Camil Ressu were completed. Currently, work is being done on Drumul Taberei,” the mayor posted on his Facebook page on Saturday.

At the same time, the procurement procedure for another 7,800 LEDs will be started shortly to modernize the public lighting on 34 other heavily trafficked streets.

„For this acquisition, we obtained an additional 50 million non-refundable lei from the Environment Fund Administration. Through these investments, we will replace 10% of the public lighting in Bucharest – which also implies the reduction of public lighting expenses by over 10 million RON,” mayor Nicusor Dan pointed out, who, in the elections of June 9, won a new mandate.
