A total of 1,388 donors who joined the campaign „Romania has the blood of a rocker, now also of an investor” invested 273.749 million RON in the third edition of the Fidelis government securities program, which ran from June 18 to 24, reads a press release issued by the Ministry of Finance, sent to AGERPRES on Tuesday.

„Over 13,000 lives were saved by donor-investors in 2024. Around this campaign launched by RockFM and Razvan Exarhu, which we joined, we see what an impressive community has been created. A community that comes to each new show and proves that it can exceed all expectations. In the last edition, although we shortened the eligibility period, we still have almost 1,400 donor-investors. Who have invested over 273 million RON. Beyond that, there are several positive aspects that I have noticed recurrently at the end of the last Fidelis editions. First of all, it is obvious that Romanians are more aware of the advantages of investing their savings. On the other hand, I am glad that the investors’ confidence in our ability to offer advantageous instruments is maintained, but also that we manage to play a significant role in the development of the local capital market,” said the minister of Finance, Marcel Bolos, in the cited press release.

According to the relevant ministry, donors benefited from the special tranche with the highest interest rate offered in this edition, 7%, for the purchase of government securities issued in RON, with maturity of one year.

The total amount invested in the third edition of the Fidelis program in 2024 exceeded 2.17 billion RON, and issues in EUR were the most accessed in this edition, with a total of over 245.947 million EUR.

Thus, the EUR issue with a maturity of one year and interest rate of 4% totaled over 129.178 million EUR, equivalent to 645.890 million RON, placed in 3,531 orders.

The second issue in EUR, with a 5-year maturity and 5% interest rate, totaled over 116.769 million EUR, equivalent to 583.847 million RON, placed in 3,022 orders.

As regards issues in RON, investors placed more than 668.941 million RON in 6,686 orders. The issues of government securities in RON had maturities of one and three years and annual interest rates of 6% and 6.85% respectively.

The nominal value of a Fidelis government bond is 100 RON for the issue in RON and 100 EUR for the issue in EUR, and the minimum subscription threshold is 5,000 RON and 1,000 EUR respectively.

Donor investors have benefited from a tenfold decrease in the minimum subscription threshold from 5,000 RON to 500 RON. The advantageous terms of the new issue for people who can prove that they are blood donors came into force on January 1, 2024.

Those who invest in Fidelis government securities have the possibility to sell the securities before maturity and receive interest for the holding period. The accumulated interest and profit gains are also tax-free.

In the three editions of Fidelis launched this year, investors have invested more than 7.16 billion RON through 30,767 subscriptions. Also, 4,419 donor-investors have invested over 674 million RON.
