TAROM has signed a leasing contract for the purchase of two Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft with CDB Aviation, the Irish subsidiary of CDB Financial Leasing Co, Ltd, the company announced on Wednesday.
According to a company release sent to AGERPRES, the two aircraft are part of the modernisation process of the TAROM fleet and will be delivered between December 2025 and January 2026.
The new Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft will have a capacity of 189 seats and will contribute to the standardisation of the TAROM fleet, allowing both to offer superior quality services to passengers and a significant reduction in the company’s operating costs.
„The collaboration with CDB Aviation supports our plans to modernise the TAROM fleet, and the two Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft will help us to increase operational efficiency and provide our passengers with a superior flying experience. We appreciate the expertise and support of our partner for this investment, an important part of our development plan, where fleet modernisation is a key element to improve our commercial performance and growth prospects. We look forward to introducing them into our flight programme,” said TAROM director general Costin Iordache.
The purchase of new aircraft is a measure that is part of TAROM’s recovery plan and was a basic condition for the European Commission’s approval of the state aid.
The Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft have an important role in strengthening TAROM’s position on the market and renewing the company’s fleet.
