In presidential race, things are more blunt; PNL’s Ciuca says

Published on

The president of the National Liberal Party (PNL), Nicolae Ciuca, said on Thursday, when asked about the social democrats’ attacks against him, that in the presidential race „things are more blunt than in any of the elections” and he stated that time must not be lost with such topics.

„The very fact that I have decided to announce my candidacy does not mean that I am disarmed, it means that I am very well armed and it is a matter of responsibility that I have assumed, and from now on all these matters are absolutely normal because in this political competition, and especially in the presidential race, things are more blunt than in any of the upcoming or past elections. (…) We all have seen these attacks. They are coming in the context in which we really need to deal with the problems you mentioned. (…) I don’t think we need to waste time on such topics”, Nicolae Ciuca told a TV station.

Asked why he did not react to these attacks, Ciuca declared that he had a „balanced approach as possible”.

He emphasized that he will run for the presidential elections because always at the PNL level the party leaders have assumed their candidacy.

„I am not afraid of anything at all. As such, those who are afraid of something in particular should not enter the competition”, stated Ciuca when asked about a possible presidential candidacy of the PSD leader, Marcel Ciolacu.
