Romanian athlete Bianca Florentina Ghelber, who qualified for the final of the women’s hammer throw at the Olympic Games, said that in the last act of the competition in Paris she hopes to excel herself.
„Today all the competitors did their best. The average was somewhere around 72 meters, it’s not quite strong enough, but in the final there will clearly be a different competition, I hope to be in top form,” she added.
Romanian athlete Bianca Florentina Ghelber qualified for the finals of the women’s hammer throw on Sunday at the Paris Olympics with the 11th score.
Ghelber competed in Group A of the qualifying heats, which she finished fifth with 71.42 meters.
Ghelber (34) is taking part in her fourth Olympic Games, after finishing sixth in the final in Tokyo. At the London Olympics (2012) she ranked 17th, and at the 2008 Olympics she didn’t make it past the qualifying round.
The final is scheduled for August 6 at 20:57.
Romania has not won an Olympic medal in athletics since Beijing 2008, when Constantina Dita won gold in the marathon.
