Optional pension funds, up by over 29%, at end of June

Optional pension funds had assets worth 5.33 billion RON, at the end of June, up 29.7% compared to the level recorded on the same date of the previous year, according to a report by the Financial Supervisory Authority (ASF).

„Most investments were made locally (96%), most of them being denominated in RON (89.7%),” the report reads.

According to the cited source, the amount of contributions transferred in June was 56.7 million RON, while the average contribution was 160 RON.

State securities held the largest share in assets, of 3.453 billion RON, respectively 64.8%. In second place were shares, with 1.432 billion RON (26.9%). Corporate bonds were in third place from this point of view, with 186.43 million RON, respectively 3.5% of total assets.

According to ASF data, voluntary pension funds had 761,955 participants in June 2024.

The following pension funds are active on Pillar III: Aegon Essential, Azt Moderato, Azt Vivace, BCR Plus, BRD Medio, Generali Stabil, NN Activ, NN Optim, Pensia Mea and Raiffeisen Acumulare.
