Published on

The Ministry of National Defense (MApN) reports that two ammunition elements fell on Thursday night in the village of Bemowo Piskie near the South Hills training ground in Poland, causing material damage.

The incident took place when the Sky Guardians air defense detachment executed a night firing session with the Gepard systems in the equipment.

The command of the detachment will make available to the Polish military police, which is investigating the case, all the data and information necessary to clarify the circumstances in which this event occurred, MApN says.

The Air Defense Detachment of the air defense structures of the Romanian Army is on the 15th rotation in the Bemowo Piskie Training Area, with the mission of ensuring the Enhanced Forward Presence on the North-Eastern Flank of the Alliance, within NATO Battle Group in Poland. During the six-month mission, the approximately 100 Romanian anti-aircraft gunners participate in exercises and training activities together with American, British, Croatian and Polish comrades, with the aim of improving cohesion and increasing the level of interoperability between NATO member troops.
