Building permits for residential buildings increase 1.1% in first seven months

The number of building permits issued for residential buildings increased 1.1% in the first seven months of the year, compared to the same period last year, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics (INS), published on Friday.

Thus, in the first seven months, 20,412 building permits were issued for residential buildings. Growth was recorded in the following development regions: South-Muntenia (+187 permits), Vest (+172), Bucharest-Ilfov (+165), North- East (+36) and South-West Oltenia (+12).

At the same time, decreases were recorded in the following development regions: Centre (-271 permits), North-West (-69) and South-East (-16).

According to the statistics, in July 2024, 3,487 building permits for residential buildings were issued, up 21.3% compared to June 2024 and 14.1% compared to July 2023.

In July of this year, there was an increase in the number of building permits issued for residential buildings compared to the previous month (+612 permits). In territorial profile, this increase is reflected in the following development regions: North-West (+231 permits), North-East (+136), Centre (+100), South-Muntenia (+97) and West (+75).

According to the INS, decreases were recorded in the following development regions: Bucharest-Ilfov (-17 permits), South-East and South-West Oltenia (-5).

In July of this year, compared to the same month in 2023, there was an increase in the number of building permits issued for residential buildings (+14.1%) and a decrease in the total useful floor area (-10.1%).

In territorial profile, this increase in the number of building permits issued for residential buildings (+431 permits) is reflected in the following development regions: North-West (+155 permits), South-Muntenia (+141), West (+84), Bucharest-Ilfov (+24), North-East and South-East (+22 each) and Centre (+10).

On the other hand, there were decreases in the South-West Oltenia development region (-27 permits).
