PSD’s Daniel Suciu elected Chamber president

Published on

Social Democrat MP Daniel Suciu was elected on Monday in a plenary meeting as president of the Chamber of Deputies.

The vote was by secret ballot.

Daniel Suciu received 205 votes „in favour” and 68 „against.”

His counter-candidate was Alliance for Romanians’ Union (AUR) MP George Simion, who received 24 votes „in favour” and 249 „against.”

Daniel Suciu says that December marks 12 years since he has been a member of the Romanian Parliament.

„I entered politics 17 years ago. I got older in the meantime, but my motivation has not changed. I want you to know that being in public service is the greatest honour that a man who chooses this path in life can have. This, indeed, has not changed for me. I have been wrong before, even from this microphone, but until the end of my mandate I assure you of my full appreciation. I remain the same rational and balanced man and I hope to be together with all of you, even if we are facing a very complicated and hot period because of the elections,” Suciu told the Chamber of Deputies plenary meeting.
