Romania’s access to a „significant” financing, of almost one billion dollars, through the Agreement regarding the loan from the Military Financing Fund of the United States of America, represents a „strong” argument of the trust and status that our country enjoys in the relationship with the USA, Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu said on Wednesday, at the signing ceremony of the agreement, which took place at the government headquarters.
„In the vision of the government that I lead, this agreement is only the first stage of the future projects that we will develop together,” Ciolacu pointed out.
„In fact, Romania today joins a very small club of key partner states of the United States of America that have benefited so far from this program developed through the Fund for the Financing of the United States of America. I am glad that we will use this money both to strengthen Romania’s defense capacity by equipping the Romanian Armed Forces with modern technology, as well as to develop the local defense industry. There are two absolutely essential directions that Romania must focus on in the coming period,” added Marcel Ciolacu.
He specified that new production capacities will be developed in Romania, jobs will be created, and our country will become relevant again at the regional level in terms of the production of military equipment.
The agreement regarding the loan from the Military Financing Fund of the United States of America of 920 million dollars was signed by the Minister of Finance, Marcel Bolos, and the director of the US Agency for Security and Defense Cooperation, Michael Miller.
