National Bank of Romania authorises Blik Romania instant payment system

The National Bank of Romania (BNR) Board authorised on 1 October 2024 the operation in Romania of the Blik Romania instant payment system, according to a press release of the Central Bank issued on Thursday.

The system will be administered and operated by Blik Romania S.A. and will ensure the settlement of e-commerce payment transactions up to lei 50,000.

The National Bank of Romania points out in the press release that it will monitor the Blik Romania system on an ongoing basis, so as to ensure the smooth functioning of payment systems in Romania, as well as to safeguard financial stability.
