National leader of the National Liberal Party (PNL) Nicolae Ciuca said on Thursday that the request for the Liberals to vote for the no-confidence motion tabled by the Save Romania Union (USR) is „politicking,” adding that the approach is meaningless.
„I was very impressed by this absolutely politicking request because at the moment everyone has to look at two absolutely exact things – the parliamentary math to carry out such an approach and the time left until the parliamentary election is over. As such, it is absolutely meaningless, but I saw that a USR leader came out and said that he would not mind entering the government with the Social Democratic Party (PSD). Does anyone understand anything anymore?” said Ciuca, asked if he is ready to sign USR’s motion of censure.
USR national leader Elena Lasconi announced on Wednesday that the USR motion of censure is written and called on all democratic political forces to sign it.
„I am calling on all parliamentary democratic political forces to sign this censure motion, called Democracy – in danger. Economy – destroyed. Romanians – poor. The Ciolacu government must end! Enough of Them!’ A special message for Mr Ciuca and his colleagues from the PNL: you now have the chance to show everyone if you are with the Romanians or you are with Ciolacu. and be careful: you cannot be with Romanians and PSD at the same time,” Lasconi said in a social media post.
