PM Ciolacu: Reindutrialising our economy is the sure way for Romania’s development

Reindustrialising our economy is the sure way for Romania’s development, and we are now preparing to launch a package of strategic programmes for the development of the economy, Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu said.

On Thursday, together with US to Romania Kathleen Kavalec, the head of the executive visited the Mondelez plant in Clinceni Commune, Ilfov County.

„For me, what you have managed to achieve here is further proof that reindutrialising our economy is the sure way for Romania’s development. That is why I have now prepared the launch of a package of strategic programmes for the development of the economy. The most important is the National Support Programme for Large Industry, worth 1 billion euros. We want to attract large investments in key areas for the future of the economy, and for this we have also prepared a Plan for Strategic Investments in the manufacturing industry. It is a 500-million-euro state aid scheme with tax breaks for investments of over 150 million euros. Looking at what is happening here in Clinceni, I become even more optimistic about the goal that I announced publicly, that Romania can become, in 10 years, one of the technological and industrial hubs in Europe,” said Marcel Ciolacu.

Using the experience of high-calibre foreign investors, such as Mondelez, we can replicate this successful business model in other strategic areas, the PM added.

Ciolacu praised the high technological level of production in the Clinceni plant and the fact that the products are exported to tens of other countries.

In the end, he voiced his confidence in the future of the Romanian economy.

„And the fact that you are investing another 30 million euro in Romania’s production capacity is for me a new and strong signal of confidence in the future of the Romanian economy,” said the prime minister.
