The Senate on Monday adopted a draft law on the protection and promotion of persons with disabilities, which was initiated by unaffiliated parliamentarians and supported by the PSD (Social Democratic Party).
The normative act modifies and supplements item no. 78, paragraph (43) of the Law no. 448/2006 on the protection and promotion of the rights of persons with disabilities establishing that both the brokerage and the sales activities carried out by an authorized protected unit established within an organization of disabled persons are only to be done for products or services offered by another such authorized protected unit, if these products or services are made through the own activity of the disabled persons employed.
Also, an amendment stipulates that the monitoring and control of these units shall be done by the National Agency for Fiscal Administration.
According to another accepted amendment, the procedure for verification and control of authorized protected units and of those who purchase products or services made through the own activity of disabled persons employed in authorized protected units is established by a joint order of the Minister of Labour and Social Solidarity and the Minister of Finance Public.
The project will be debated and submitted to the plenary vote of the Chamber of Deputies, the decision-making body in this case.
