National Liberal Party (PNL) Chairman Nicolae Ciuca asks Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu to complete reforms and unblock the funds from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), as this is, in the Liberal leader’s opinion, the only way to go ahead.
Romanians expect results not explanations and electoral relief, Ciuca told the prime minister.
”Mr. Ciolacu, are we moving from deeds to words? In my term of office we have attracted 6.3 billion euros from the PNRR, respecting all the necessary milestones. These are facts, not rhetoric. Today, the problem is with you. The government that you lead has blocked access to tranche 3 funds because of the 6 essential milestones not completed (…),” Ciuca wrote on Facebook on Friday.
He also told Marcel Ciolacu, his counter-candidate for the Cotroceni seat, that one cannot win the presidential elections by avoiding Romania’s real problems.
On Tuesday there was an exchange on social networks between the Prime Minister and the president of the PNL.
Initially, PNL Chairman Nicolae Ciuca asked Marcel Ciolacu „to explain urgently what he will do so that Romania does not lose the approximately 1.1 billion euros from the PNRR.” In response, the head of the government told him that „this opposition circus is not helping anyone” and that what the European Commission invoked are things that happened during his term of office.
