PM Ciolacu vows to fight against Russian electoral interference in Romania

Published on

Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu said on Wednesday that, as long as he is head of the government, „there will be no Russian interference” with the electoral process in Romania.

„We all saw, yesterday, certain politicians desperate to make their place in the second round, inventing irresponsible scenarios about how Russia will take advantage of the presidential elections in Romania. I want to be very clear, as long as I am the prime minister, there will be no Russian interference with our electoral process! On the contrary, we are doing everything we can to diminish Russia’s influence in the region,” Ciolacu said at the beginning of a weekly meeting of the government.

He added that the government will approve new support measures for Moldova.

„The best way is to approve today new support measures for the Republic of Moldova in the field of energy and road infrastructure. The support of the pro-European Government in Chisinau and President Maia Sandu is our top priority. I know for sure that Russia understands this clearly from Romania’s actions lately,” said Ciolacu.
