Romania’s municipalities have concluded 116 funding contracts with the Ministry of Education over the last two years regarding several categories of investment, such as equipping educational establishments, developing dual education campuses, developing complementary early education services and building green schools, Minister Ligia Deca said on Monday.
She participated in the debates at the Summit of Romania’s Municipal Public Authorities.
„A central point was the common direction of investment under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) in educational infrastructure. In the last two years, Romania’s municipalities have concluded 116 funding contracts with the Ministry of Education for that purpose, targeting several categories of investment, such as equipping educational establishments, developing dual education campuses in Romania, developing complementary early education services and building green schools. The value of these contracts exceeds RON 3.7 billion, a record amount earmarked for education. Of this amount, over RON 2.2 billion are for investing in equipping schools with modern furniture, IT equipment in each classroom, computer and science laboratories, gyms, and practice workshops,” Deca wrote in a social media post.
She said that there has never been such a large amount of funding for the modernisation of Romanian schools.
