The total value of the volumes traded on Black Friday and processed by PayU GPO Romania, as of 09:13hrs, neared RON 280 million, Elena Gheorghe, the company’s country manager, said on Friday.
„So far we have processed RON 280 million, up 22% from the previous year. I can already see that in transactions, from 09:00hrs, so in 13 minutes, we already exceeded 400,000 transactions, with an increase, I think around 15%. What is very important, as a trend, card payment has increased to 70% of the total transactions,” Gheorghe said at the media centre dedicated to Black Friday.
She said that the average value of the shopping cart is RON 800, six times higher than on a normal day, when it stands at EUR 40 per transaction.
As for the categories of products purchased, topping theme are IT&C, home, home and deco and fashion products.
„The largest transaction so far was actually registered at one o’clock in the morning, of almost RON 70,000. So, people have not lost interest in Black Friday,” said Gheorghe.
In 2023, the largest transaction was RON 1.5 million, but it was not made by card, but by bank transfer and could not be seen in real time, she added.
According to data released at the conference, as of 09:00hrs, the value of transactions was RON 267 million for 382,000 transactions, including 70% that were paid for with a click. In the top three transactions there is worth RON 69,733, made at 10:16hrs, another one of RON 43,479 lei, at 08:53hrs and another of RON 41,540 at 08:15 hrs
The average shopping cart was, at 09:00 hrs, RON 699, six times higher than on a normal day, and the average shopping cart in instalments was RON 1,036, 60% higher than on a normal day.
