Brazil election enters runoff. Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva to face Jair Bolsonaro

Brazil’s presidential race will go to a second round, after the Candidates allied to President Jair Bolsonaro achieved important victories in the legislative and gubernatorial elections, held on Sunday in parallel with the presidential election in Brazil, according to Reuters, Agerpres reads.

In the presidential elections, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, ex-president and a symbol of the Brazilian left, won 48% of the votes against Bolsonaro (extreme right), who obtained a better result (43%) than expected, the difference between them being about 6 million votes, according to the quasi-definitive official results.

Brazilians were called to elect, in addition to the president and vice-president of the country, the governors of the 27 states of the federation, the new composition of the Chamber of Deputies (513 seats) and one third of the 81 senators, as well as the legislative assemblies of the states.
