The Ministry of Education highlighted, in a message sent on Monday, that it is the duty of every generation to keep alive the memory of the victims of the Holocaust.
„Today, January 27, we pay tribute to the International Holocaust Remembrance Day, a day when we recall the suffering endured by millions of innocent people and commemorate the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi concentration and extermination camps at Auschwitz-Birkenau. It is the duty of every generation to keep alive the memory of the victims of the Holocaust. This dark page in the history of humanity constantly reminds us of the dangers of prejudice, intolerance and racism,” the ministry said.
The Ministry of Education reaffirms its „firm” commitment to promoting education on the Holocaust and combating antisemitism, emphasizing that it will continue cooperation with the Federation of Jewish Communities in Romania, as well as with national and international partners in the field.
Starting with the 2023 – 2024 school year, the school subject „History of the Jews. The Holocaust” has been introduced in the high school curriculum.
