FinMin Tanczos: Ordinance for multisectoral measures does not allow indexation to wages or pensions

Finance Minister Tanczos Barna said on Friday that the provisions in the unofficially called „train” ordinance, which was approved at the end of last year, do not allow indexation to salaries and pensions.

„This year, the ordinance of the end of last year on multisectoral measures does not allow indexation to salaries or pensions,” Tanczos said at the Government House.

He added that, after the passage of the 2025 national budget by Parliament, new discussions will take place with the trade unions on certain provisions of the ordinance.

„After the approval of the budget, we will certainly have a discussion with the prime minister, including the trade unions and companies that have problems with implementing the ordinance and we will probably take a decision in Parliament,” Tanczos said.

He added that the draft 2025 national budget is a prudently built one.

„At the moment, the budget is based on those conservative, realistic forecasts made by the Forecasting Institute, forecasts that were redone at the end of the year and that are certainly sufficiently restrained to be achievable. I believe that both the national bank’s forecasts and the forecasts of the forecast board are realistic, prudent and we have not exaggerated in estimating revenues,” said Tanczos.

The minister was also asked about the national bank’s position after the draft budget was presented to bank’s governor Mugur Isarescu.

„Mr Isarescu has made the forecasts for 2025 and believes that a balanced budget, with a cut in expenses, is a realistic budget,” Tanczos said.
