Nicolae Ciuca resigns Senate seat

Published on

Former Chairman of the National Liberal Party (PNL) Nicolae Ciuca announced on Wednesday that he is resigning his Senate seat.

„The time has come for me to publicly announce my decision to resign as Senator in the Romanian Parliament. Out of respect for my Liberal colleagues, I first communicated my decision to the PNL leadership. I would like this gesture to be interpreted as a natural one, considering that I reached this position thanks to the support of the National Liberal Party,” Ciuca wrote on Facebook.

He added that he remains a convinced Liberal and that he will back Liberal values as a rank-and-file member of the party.

„I remain a convinced Liberal, firmly positioned in the center-right zone. I will always support private initiative, democracy and family, with honesty and decency, even if not in the spotlight, but just as a simple PNL member. I want to thank everyone who supported me in these years, everyone I have worked with and everyone who trusted me! I remain deeply indebted to you!,” was Ciuca’s message.
