Mircea Abrudean – Senate’s interim president

Senate Vice President Mircea Abrudean took over on Tuesday the interim leadership of the upper chamber of Parliament, during the period in which Ilie Bolojan temporarily assumes the position of head of state.

„Given that the President of the Senate, Ilie Bolojan, will take over, in accordance with the constitutional provisions, the position of interim President of Romania, the duties of the President of the Senate will be exercised, during the interim period, by the Vice President of the Senate, Mircea Abrudean,” a release posted on Tuesday on the Senate’s website informed.

In this regard, Ilie Bolojan signed a decision on Tuesday formalizing this transition, thus ensuring the continuity of legislative activity and the proper functioning of the Senate, the cited source states.
