Gov’t to provide 800 lei financial support to pensioners with low incomes (sources)

Published on

The Government will provide financial support of 800 lei this year, in two equal installments, for pensioners with low incomes, as decided by the coalition leaders during a meeting held on Wednesday at the Victoria Palace, political sources informed.

According to these sources, the first installment will be given in April, and the second at the end of the year.

„About 2.5 million pensioners who receive pensions of up to 2,574 lei (the equivalent of the net minimum wage) will benefit from this financial support. The financial envelope for this support is approximately 2 billion lei, funds that are included in this year’s state budget,” the quoted sources mentioned.

The Ministry of Labour will now draft the normative act and make it available for public consultation, after which it will be approved by the relevant ministries and adopted by the Government, ensuring there is enough time to go through the bureaucratic procedures before April, the same sources indicated.
