Local company wins European funding for electric vehicle charging stations

Published on

Local entrepreneurial company Axionet IoT has been selected by the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) for a funding of EUR 26.88 million in order to develop 496 charging stations for electric vehicles in 200 locations in Romania.

The 496 electric vehicle charging stations are designed to serve both light and heavy vehicles. Thus, 96 of the stations will be for fast charging, of a power of 150 kW, and another 400 will have a power of 350 kW.

The project covers key areas in Romania along the TEN-T road network, with the stations being located no more than 3 km away from exits or urban junctions, for optimal accessibility.

The participation in this call for projects was coordinated by the company’s management, with support from KPMG consultants.

Recently, the European Commission (EC), through CINEA, has declared eligible funding for 39 projects worth a total of EUR 422 million aimed at the development of alternative fuels infrastructure on the TEN-T trans-European transport network. Among the selected projects, three come from Romania, one of them being by Axionet IoT.

The funds will be granted under the Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Facility (AFIF), part of the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) programme, which supports the development of sustainable mobility at European level.

Since 2017, Axionet has deployed more than 500 charging sites in various scenarios, from private and industrial use for testing, to electric fleets and public charging. Most of its charging points are in the Fast Charge category.

At the same time, the entrepreneur offers a complete range of solutions and services for remote monitoring, location, prevention and reporting of vehicles and machinery, IoT solutions and services, as well as green energy solutions and services.
