E-commerce will reach 38.6% of Romania’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2025, and by 2029 the share is expected to exceed 46%, according to the estimates of the Bulgarian eCommerce Association, published on Wednesday.
According to a press release from the professional association, sent to AGERPRES, while purchases on mobile devices continue to have an upward trend, 56.4% of Romanian buyers prefer desktops and laptops, „which present a mix of conservative and modern habits”.

Balkan eCommerce Summit 2025 has evolved into the main event for digital commerce in the region.
In this sense, the capital of Bulgaria, Sofia, is preparing to become the center of e-commerce partnerships and development in the Balkans and will host, between April 29 and 30, at Arena Sofia, one of the largest e-commerce events in the region.
The summit will bring together top companies in marketing and logistics, payment services, banks, leaders in the FinTech industry, together with SaaS and AI solutions, in a large-scale exhibition that will regroup over 200 companies, and each of them will present their services and look for long-term partnerships.
