The Ministry of Labour, Family, Youth and Social Solidarity is kicking off a project called „Integrated Service Provision in Rural Communities,” the largest social inclusion project to run on European funds, which will support over 450,000 vulnerable people in rural areas.

According to the ministry, the announcement was made by Minister Simona Bucura-Oprescu, at the 28th session of the General Assembly of the Association of Romania’s Municipalities.

The project covers 2,000 rural settlements and will secure access to social services, education, healthcare and community support for over 450,000 vulnerable people – children, the elderly, people with disabilities, families in need.

„This project means the chance for a better life for hundreds of thousands of people in Romania’s villages. We are investing in quality social services and in training public administration professionals, so that no community is left behind, and the most vulnerable among us are supported,” according to Labour Minister Simona Bucura-Oprescu.

Under the project, EUR 815 million are provided for integrated social services; mobile medical offices and community assistance centres; hot meals for children from vulnerable families; support for getting identity documents and home repairs; 10,000 specialists in the social, educational and medical fields, trained to improve local services.
