New car registrations increased by 5.4% in February 2025 compared to the same month in 2024, up to 11,779 units, according to preliminary data published on Monday by the Automotive Manufacturers and Importers Association (APIA).
According to statistics from the Directorate General of Driving Licenses and Vehicle Registration (DGPCI), compared to the reference period, 100% electric cars registered a decrease of 35%, and a market share of 6.1%.
The top three car brands are Dacia – with 3,532 units registered, Toyota (1,005) and Skoda (878), followed by Volkswagen (842 units), Renault (738), Ford (615), Hyundai (563), BMW (438), Mercedes-Benz (403) and Suzuki (388).
In the first two months of 2025, new car registrations totaled 23,602 units, down 0.6% compared to the same period last year.
